Bad Idea #514

It might be a bad idea to put this on your car. Just a thought.

It was ironical that we saw this sticker the day before we started our "So You Wanna Adopt A Kid..." classes with our social worker. I had pretty low expectations for the class but it is surprisingly good! The first meeting with our social worker went well too, from what we could tell. These people are trained in Jedi mind tricks and are completely unreadable but I think we came off somewhat normal. Well, you all know the truth but, well, at least we don't have this sticker on our van. Just pray okay? :-)

The Dime Tour

Some Texans have asked for a tour of the new house so pay up and you can come along!

Here is the door you are about to walk through. It's a pretty cool tour to see the inside of the front door first huh?

As you enter the foyer, you may notice a herd of small children. Be careful, make no sudden movements, they may stampede!
The doors on your left lead into the Man Area.

Let us continue through to the main living area...

On your right is the kitchen...

As we walk down the hall, we'll first come to the master suite...

Then there is the guest bath, a lovely shade of green!

Next we have Libby's room and as it is still under construction, we'll save that for a later tour. Last is the boys' room and due to the shape of the room I'll just show one wall. Someday those pictures may be hung on the wall and the chair rail on and the toys cleaned up!

Thanks for joining us today, here is your complimentary mint.

Springtime

My mom has been here this week and she is a HUGE help to anyone trying to settle into a house. I'll send you her business card for a $50 finding fee. Since I failed to call her on her birthday I made it up by acheiving the near impossible feat of getting a good picture of all three kids with their Mimi.

Yes, we are fully in the "cowboy madness" stage at this point and it is a ton of fun! There are bad guys around every corner of our house so watch it! Here are some more random pictures of our cute kids...

Since it is officially spring, here are some fun cupcakes we made recently for a dear friend's baby shower.

Happy Springtime!

Danny's 2nd and 3rd Third Birthdays

Still trying to buy the love of our middle child, we have officially sang "Happy Birthday" and blown out candles three times now for his 3rd birthday. You saw the first time (panda pancakes), now here is the second event. We had friends over for a fancy dinner. I had an awesome coupon for a 14 piece meal that came with a cake! Yep, I have the gift of hospitality!

That is Jake's "Hulk face." They've never seen any form of entertainment with superheroes but somehow they know they exist and know their names. I think it is imprinted on boy DNA.

The big panda party was today and here is the main event. Pandamonium!

I had a crazy idea to do a super fun craft with the kids at the party. I think it was maybe more crazy than fun for me. Paint plus preschoolers is always interesting.

Kids eating cake is always funny.

I feel very blessed to have my mom here for the chaos, not sure how blessed she was feeling but she was definitely doing better than some, who shall remain nameless, who tried to make the party all about them.

The Middle Child Saga - Jipped Again

Daylight Savings on your birthday = one hour less birthday. Being a middle child just stinks huh? We are trying to redeem his day by having a fun birthday at home today and then a party next week. Two birthdays are totally better than one!

We started Danny's big third birthday with pancakes (and sprinkles, thanks Hallie). A friend gave Dan a Beanie Baby panda a few months ago and it begun a panda obsession thus we are having a Panda party. We made panda pancakes and panda cupcakes will be the center of attention next weekend.

You know how kids hear things some times and when they repeat exactly what they think they heard, it isn't quite right and there is nothing you can do to convince them they aren't saying it correctly? Although Dan hasn't seen Kung Fu Panda, he has heard of it and drawn the connection between that and his panda. He has renamed his panda "Kung Poo Panda." No amount of arguing, pleading, begging or bribing will convince the child his pronunciation might be a little off. I guess we'll just have to wait until he is 16 and has friends over to re-open the issue. :-)

But Danny is such a sweet and funny boy, we love him alot! His life's ambition is to work at church like Daddy, I think it's because of all the cookies located behind the front desk He also tells me he wants to be a daddy and to be called "sir." When asked who he would marry he said "I don't know, I'll get a wife and then ask her what her name is." When pressed further he said Emmy is the girl for him. I guess they have known each other for a rather long time...

I can't imagine what our home would be like without Danny, our little ham. He's always the center of attention with his concerts, storytelling and epic battles against vicious monsters. He shouts "Please can I help?!" as soon as we begin a household chore and dearly loves to do "man work," which requires him to wear his "man pants" for "man jobs."

I love that after watching Bambi, he put an end to calling us Mommy and Daddy and thus we became Father and Mother. I love Danny's appreciation of music. He saw a man at church play a bass once and immediately grabbed his guitar once we were home and turned it upright to play his "bass." I love Danny's excitement to pray, he thanks God for everything from the mustard on his sandwich to the lightbulb in the lamp. We love you Danny! Happy birthday Dan Dan!
