Great Expectations

Howdy! As we begin this new stage of life I greatly desire to keep in touch with all of our family and friends scattered across the U.S. We are starting a new career in a familiar but far off place and we have so many expectations and hopes for this next stage of our lives. We are still in a bit of shock at this new turn but excited to see what God has is store for us Texas transplants. I hope you all enjoy checking in every now and then to see what our little crew is up to.
As we begin to get settled in I have been reflecting over our "little journey" quite a bit. It has been long but filled with plenty of little blessings from the Lord along the way. We were so excited that we got to spend some extended periods of time with various family members so that our children could really get to know y'all. Thank you to everyone who took us in and especially, thank you to Nana for inviting us back even though Jake broke his leg in your living room. That one has been a long time coming...little boys!

We left Odessa, TX at 8 am (Central) and arrived in Lancaster, CA at 2:30 am (Pacific) and within 12 hours we had 2 rental houses offered from folks in the church at very reasonable prices, for Southern California. We have chosen a house and will call the moving company tomorrow to have everything delivered. With three days left on our insurance we took Jakey to a pediatric ortho specialist and he chose a traffic cone orange cast, which he says is "beautiful!" Erik started his first day in full-time ministry by playing a gold marathon. He had to be at "work" yesterday at 6:45 am to play 100 holes of golf. It's a tough job huh? We have begun meeting college students though and are really excited to get started.

You are all always welcome to come out to the beautiful Antelope Valley any time. We love you!

Tell jakey that I think his cast is "beautiful" as well! it's a nice reminder of our state bush back here in ohio (the orange barrel, of course!)

On another note... somehow your blog already knew my name. I'm kinda freaked out by that....

Yeah, Reynolds! Welcome to the blog world. Glad to hear you've made it and are getting settled. So sorry to hear about the grueling work Erik has had to endure. :) I hope he doesn't get carpal tunnel.

I have a blog as well, but it is xanga... all you have to do is have a xanga username and password to log on. That's just so I can keep the creepy creeps out.

Good to hear from you guys! That's great that you've already found a place to live. We are finally all unpacked (well there's 2 or 3 more boxes left, but it's all random stuff) and Adam is loving his new job. I'm just waiting until Oct. 10th for a subbing orientatin, and then will hopefully be working fairly often after that.
I have a blog on here too, you should be able to just click on my name to get to it. I'm not always the best at keeping it updated, but I'm trying to work on that. I also found this really amazing blog by a 22 year old college student in Australia. She makes the most amazing cakes. And pretty cool food too. Her address is: cookingismypassion.blogspot.com You should definitely check it out. I am just in awe of all of her cakes. They are mostly with fondant, so it really makes me want to learn how to use that. Well I better get going. Hope things are going well way out in California! Say hi to everyone from us!

Hello My wonderful Reynolds! I still can't believe that now that I'm in MO, you guys are back in the A.V. :) But I'm looking forwawrd to seeing you at Christmas time. I get to come back for a whole 3 weeks! Poor little Jake...how did he break his leg in the living room? Beth broke her arm in our living room when she was 10...she slipped on coupon clippings that were on the floor :) Well, I've been thinking I should start a blog to keep people up to date on what's going on in Roach, MO...I think you've inspired me to actually do it...so thanks, Missy :) Ok, class is starting up again, so I've got to go...LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!

Wow! Congrads on making this blog! I am not good enough to build this. I'm sorry for Erik having to put up with such grueling conditions but I'm sure he is enjoying every minute of it. It must be nice to be able to spend so much more time with him since his job is more family friendly. I am looking forward to seeing you in December. Don't be too busy with the kids. We love you, Love the Rainer family!
